Kyoto Global Warming Pact
Came into force in 2005, imposing limits on emissions of Carbon dioxide and other GHGs.
Kyoto Protocol
Is a treaty negotiated in Kyoto, Japan in 1997 between 159 countries setting out legally binding reduction targets for six greenhouse gases (GHG). This protocol requires countries to take appropriate measures to reduce their overall GHG emissions to a level at least 5% below the 1990 level by the commitment period 2008-2012.
